Non Profit?

WWW Discussion Board: How can we improve the martialartclubs.com website ?: Non Profit?

Just wondering why a non profit website would have a shop and a .com domain for that matter.

Seems Strange....

Martial Art Clubs . Com is a non profit making organisation. Currently we are thousands of pounds down from the launch, promotion and advertising. We hope one day to break even and the shop is there to go towards running costs. As you know a .com is not free and costs hundreds of pounds each year just to have on the net. We also have programmer fees to pay on an ongoing basis. In short this site costs a lot of money to run, so far we are loosing money WHY? because we are Martial Artists wishing to put back a little community spirit into the Martial Art world and if one day we do break even, there will be no need for the advertising on the site. Until then we plan on inproving the shopping site for instructors and students to buy top quality items at a competative price. Also there will be links to other retail outlets for the martialartclubs.com visitor. I hope you understand this arrangment and see that without this small input this site would not be able to run. Yours Sincerely M.Blakeway - co founder.

I think it very sad that one should use spirituality as a medium to disguise a truly self centered, egotistical persona and call oneself 'Sensai'. Teaching is certainly a gift but doesnt necessarily mean that the instructor is one whom should be counted on, trusted and be made to appear as a role model. As the good book tells us - look closely at those to whom you call 'teacher' then decide for yourself - if you seek you will find. I think those of you within the Midland community ought consider this ... As one who has been involved in the starting up of a martial arts business - 'founders' of many martials arts clubs are truly just only looking to make a buck out of community while having their ego stroked all of the while... truly, a shame.

I note that a few martial arts clubs say 'non profit' however I believe they insult the reader. For those who do 'read the fine print' will note that these clubs used 'non profit' money to help other members within their clubs.

These 'non profit' organisations are nothing more than a business. Another tax write off, a way to make themselves appear the good guy - why not quit using the good name of 'giving' to publish their own 'martial arts clubs', be honest with the public and; should the heart desire, give without any 'tooting of ones own horn'.
